Blast Off! Retiring Producs

Today I am blasting off early on a space adventure with another retiring stamp set.  The Blast Off! set. I love my little spaceman and rocket!  We have used him for Birthday wishes this time and in a lovely pop-up card.  This is the single card layout which you have seen me use before.  I had seen the planets layered with dimensionals online (sorry I cannot remember the demo name) and I thought they were fantastic.  I simply punched my circles (twice), punch one circle with smaller circle and hole punches, daubed with some ink round the holes and then layered them with the dimensional foam pads.

The stars are made from the stars in the set and a bit of a cheat, I used some yellow card punched with a hole punch to make the small star-specks.  The spaceship in this set looks lovely embossed in silver.  

Now for my proudest moment, I made my space man literally 'pop' out of his space rocket to go on his lunar adventures!

He is attached to a strip of window sheet that I cut to size and I then fed this through a strip of folded card attached to the underside of the card base.  I am not sure if you can see this from the photos clearly.

I added a 'Lift Off!' finish to the bottom of the strip to operate the space expedition.  Just push it up and the window sheet strip slides in the card placeholder to push the spaceman out of his rocket.  I even added some baker's twine to him to look like his lifeline back to the craft.

This set is a fantastic purchase for mummies with little ones, but who is to say it is just for the kid's.  I certainly loved playing with it for this card. I think you can tell with my push-up design creative moment! It is staying in my collection for more birthday wishes, invitations and celebrations to come.   It is also going to be a great set to play with during our mummy stamping sessions.......when I let little one get his hands on it that is!

The weather outside is certainly frightful, I hope you are all safe and warm inside.............as I write this my hubby is currently outside shoring up our fence which is about to take it's very own Christmas flight. I am here, inside, keeping dry with the kettle on for a nice warm drink when the rescue crew return. So, my second post in a day - Wow! I must be on a crafting roll for Christmas!

As promised here is a picture of some little extra tags and Washi Tape Pegs I have made to decorate and label my parcels.  Earlier I mentioned the Very Merry Tags (130393) stamp set in my post, well here they are again.  The tags are cut again with the Chalk Talk dies .  I cut a bunch in one craft session so I had some ready cut and then have just decorated as I found time.  I made these tags for gifting so I have made them into a little gift package with the Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine (123125) wound ready for cutting to the required length.

There are several designs which match punches that you may or may not already have in your collection so some easy stamp and punching and you have beautiful homemade tags to use!  I loved the cheeky 'Naughty Nice' checkbox tag design which matches the Decorative Label Punch (120907) .  I have also used the little 'Very Merry' and 'I ~heart~ Santa' stamps from the set with the matching 7/8" (2.2cm) scallop circle (129404) and Petite Curly Label (129405) punches.  I did also sneek in that small snowflake again from the Snow Day (131892) set too.

The Pegs are just plain wooden washing pegs which I picked up at a local discount store and all I have done to smarten these up is  use the Season of Style Designer Washi Tape (132155) to cover them. Just perfect for adding to a parcel, gift bag or gift tag.  To sit them on the card background for my gift package I have punched with the Word Window Punch (119857)  to create and opening and then pegged them through.

I hope you like them and have some ideas for making your own tags for that extra personal wrapping.

Once Upon a Time....

Good Morning to you all.  We have been having some fun over Easter and over the weekend we visited a local farm which hands hands-on experience for children.  My little one loved it!  He got to feed the lambs, baby goats and hold a little baby goat too.  I have to say I was enjoying the close up experience too, although it was a little too close when one of the bigger sheep decided to hop over the fence and jump the queue for the feeding!

Well in a springtime animal theme I thought I would share a card I made for my Niece recently using the Storytime designer papers. This pack is absolutely fantastic for children's projects and I love the Alphabet and Numeric papers which are great even hung or framed as they are for teaching little ones.  You could even cut and mount them for your very own set of flashcards or create a game of snap!

It was my Niece's third birthday so I used the pictorial numeric sheet to represent her birthday, you can also see some of the other designs of the paper on the background strips.  I had to play around a while to get all three of the numbers on the card as I just loved the pictures and did not want to cut them down any smaller.  The colours are so gender neutral which is great, but I wanted to add a little 'girlie' to the card so I punched some Boho Blossoms to add to it.  To soften the corners I used the corner punch on the card and the layered pieces.

 

This pack of papers is multi-talented as it's not just for children.  Here too is a card I have made for a male birthday using the same papers. Little banners are great for using up scraps or little leftovers, I have picked the reverse designs from some of the papers and added the ruler paper for a DIY reference for this one.  The First Edition Papers have also found a little place on this card too.    

 

 

Happy Birthday for the card is from the Delightful Dozen set again - yep AGAIN!  Another one to add to the useful stamp set count!  I have used markers to select colours from the papers and stamp elements of the Happy Birthday stamp in the set.  The stamp is loaded with Birthday sayings and you can stamp which ever bits you want this way.  I also used the 'Wish Big' from the Pennant Parade set.

 

The flags hide it a little bit, but I have criss-crossed some baker's twine behind them and finished off with a big button with a knot of the twine.  I used one of the bronze buttons from the Aut/Wint catalogue for my card, but a big designer button would work just as well.
