Mr & Mrs.........This Day Forward

Wow!  What a beautiful wedding yesterday for my cousin in Winchester at the Guildhall.  The weather was certainly shining on their day as we enjoyed the ceremony and the post-wedding photos in the park amongst the beautiful roses there.  Winchester is certainly full of history and beautiful architecture.  I only got a brief glance of the shops there,  but had not realised what I was missing so there is definitely a repeat trip required - one with comfortable shoes!

For the lovely couple I used the Mr & Mrs stamp from Stampin' Up!  A simple, single stamp which I have used for a number of wedding acceptance, wedding celebration and anniversary cards now.   This one is so easy to ink separately, emboss, cut and play around with to get different looks.  The stamp is on the retired list so make sure you place an order whilst stocks last!

The colour is Coastal Cabana and I have used the Scallop Tag Topper Punch for the two labels on the front of the card.  I just simply stamped across the two labels for my simple layout.  Behind the card front is a mat layer of Crumb Cake which I have used the Very Vintage jumbo wheel over.  Two wheels across and the background was created.  I love the vintage style of this and will miss it terribly when it retires at the end of the month.  In fact, all of the wheel stamps are retired and the wheel accessories.  I have loved creating backgrounds, gift wrap and scrapbook elements with all my wheel designs.

For embellishments I fed a loop of the Organza ribbon through the tag holes and secured with glue dots. My bow was then just created by making a larger loop of ribbon and then creating a small wrap round the middle, slightly pinching in the sides of the larger loop as I secured it all with glue dots.

We are in the Retired List time and whilst sorting through my craft room I came across the gorgeous Frosted Finishes.  So sad that they had been left since the Autumn/Winter seasonal finished so I used one here to top my bow.  I thought the sparkle and the vintage style shape suited the occasion perfectly.

Now, we had wedding guests with us and they arrived only to realise they had forgotten the card for the couple.  No matter, I soon found them one from my collection so the lucky couple have two lovely SU cards for their day.

This card is from the perfect wedding stamp set, This Day Forward.  It has the gorgeous two birds stamp and a number of sentiments with it to mark a happy wedding or anniversary occasion.  I have simply embossed the design in Silver - the embossing is stylish and simple for this card.  The card front is on mat layers with a layer of the Mosaic emboss folder to give it some added texture.

Although both this set and the Mr&Mrs are wedding sets there are plenty of other occasions you can use them for. This one I have seen the bird design be used as partridges for a Christmas theme too! Another set which is on the retired list and for this one there is a 30% discount.  It is only £13.27, so I expect stocks will run low soon, especially with the wedding season upon us.

Mosaic Madness Ripples

Rain, Rain, Go away!  Well at least if it is rainy there is an excuse to be inside crafting!  Today's card is made with the Mosaic Madness stamp set from the Annual Catalogue 2013-2014.  This set with coordinating emboss folder is just super for clean and simple layouts.

I have combined the Rasperry Ripple of the luxurious stitched satin ribbon with Smoky Slate grey which joined our colour collections this catalogue.  The Smoky Slate is so classy and subtle on this elegant card.

Sometimes we all need a little inspiration from others to help get the creative juices flowing and as I am often limited on time to craft due to family commitments I often take a sneek peek at others creations to get me started when I sit down to craft.  It is only right to credit the originator of this card design Michelle Last, another fantastic demonstrator from Stampin' Up!  If you have time, just click on her name here for a link to her beautiful blog of creations.

If you have been watching my previous posts you will have seen me use the Express Yourself stamps already.  This time it is Happy Birthday for this card, but the card design could be for thanks or other occasions too.  The Raspberry Ripple is lovely for a Valentine project too.

For this card I used:

Mosaic Madness stamps
Mosaic emboss folder
Stitched satin ribbon (raspberry ripple)
Rhinestones
Express Yourself (hostess)

I hope you like the card

Sharing What You Love

This is the sentiment from Stampin' Up! themselves, but this week certainly felt true to this for me.  Firstly I wanted to thank those of you that came to my recent Open House event.  Without the support of customers I would not be able to enjoy SU products and so I made some 'Thank You' cards to show my appreciation.  I left a note inside attached with a post-it note so that the cards could be re-used by the recipient.

The cards were made with the Mosaic Madness stamp set and in the In Colours 2013-2015 selection of colours.  The 'Thank You' is from the Four You stamp set.  I really like the sizing of this and the style of the writing in this set, I wish my handwriting was as artistic as this!  I had a few cards to make, but a little stamping and punching whilst I watched some TV and I had a efficient little production going.  The Mosaic emboss folder gives a great background grid and I then just layered my mosaic tiles in a pattern as I wanted them with a mix of the colours.

Another card for you, this time with Christmas in mind.  Yep, it really is time to start planning those Christmas festivities.  Every year, if you are like me, you say you will start it early so as not to have the big rush on, well now is THAT time to start.

This card was a demo card to show a number of methods and techniques so has quite a bit going on.  There are of course the Mosaic Madness layered in there.  They are mounted on foam pads to raise them off the Label Love stamped images behind them.  I wanted to show that although the Label Love has sayings on the stamps, when layered in this manner they can be used for other occasions too.  The labels are punched with the co-ordinating Artisan Label punch and I then punched the coloured card and cut it in half to create the borders round the labels.
To create the wavy emboss lines I used the Simply Borders plate for the Simply Scored board.  What an effective background and I think it ties in well with the label styling too.

The flowers were meant to be a little poinsettia-looking by using the Boho Blossoms punch and using just the smallest and medium sized flower shapes (2 of the medium size and then a small one on top) with a pearl to finish. The little 'Very Merry' label to top the middle of the card is from the Very Merry Tags stamp set and punched with the small scallop circle punch (7/8" 2.2cm).

Two cards that hopefully show you how to use your existing, or possible purchases, from the main catalogue as well as the Autumn/Winter seasonal sets to make cards for all occasions, including the festive season.

Mad For Mosaic

A new post for you today.  Now you may well remember the Sneak Peek I gave you of the Mosaic Madness set, well it is back again today in the In Colours 2013-2014.

The punched mosaic is a lovely little shape and so versatile.  It can be tiled, layered or just stand out on it's own.  Take a closer look at the background to this card, it is the Mosaic emboss folder, it makes a great template to start with and matches perfectly.

I have used a mixture of punched Small Hearts and Floral Fusion flowers cut with the Big Shot Sizzlit to layer onto the Mosaics. I have finished off the card with some extras - a Vintage Faceted Button - these are my absolute favourite buttons! - pearls and linen thread.

The 'Hello' is from the Four You set in the new annual catalogue.  The set has four fabulous phrases,  'Hello', 'Thank You', 'Birthday Wishes' and 'Thinking of You'.  I love the different fonts of these four stamps too.   At £9.95 for the clear set (£12.95 for the Wood-mount) they are a great starter set or even just a staple for your stamp collection.  I think they will be appearing a lot on my cards!

Now for a lovely mosaic layout in Pistachio Pudding and Crisp Cantaloupe.  I have a simple background of whisper white for this one and have just used the designs from the Mosaic Madness stamps and a 'Happy Birthday' from the hostess set Express Yourself.

The Butterflies are from the Embosslits Beautiful Wings, but the butterfly punches in the catalogue will work just as well for this layout.  This card, for me, works so well as it is a nice crisp clean and simple card and it is the rhinestones which then just add that extra pizzazz.

Remember, to get the Hostess sets from the catalogue, host a party and if the sales reach just a minimum of £150 you are then entitled to hostess pounds you can spend on hostess products only available to hostesses (or other product in the catalogue if you wish).  This set has 12 sentiments in a lovely handwriting style.

If you choose to spend on Hostess products you get more for your money, purchased with hostess pounds the Express Yourself set of stamps is only £14!!  You don't fancy a party?  Updating your crafting collection?  If you spend the £150 yourself, you can still get the same benefits!

This last card, my favourite, I have to admit is based on a card I had seen by another demonstrator, Terri Antoniw.  I switched a few things around and used the Mosaic emboss folder for the background, but this card is a fantastic layout.  It uses the Mosaic Madness and Label Love stamps and the new Mosaic and Artisan Label punches.

I am loving the co-ordinating stamps and punches this cattie and how quickly and easily I can put cards together with them. I hope you love these too.  Come back soon as I have lots more to show you in the coming days!

Don't forget also to check out my Events and Classes pages for classes using these products.  If you are a customer already, look out for the August Newsletter in your email inbox for my event on Saturday 31st August too!

Fabulous You

Good morning, I hope you are all enjoying the new catalogue as much as I am!  I have just had a UPS delivery and I am so excited, but I am trying to contain my excitement long enough for a quick blog update for you all.

It is another birthday month this month with lots of birthdays and other occasions to celebrate for.  It's also my birthday month for a big special birthday, but let's not mention that just yet as I am trying to put it off for a bit longer!

Today's cards are all products from the yummy new catalogue.  The two cards here are the Fabulous You stamp set.  No matter how many times you look through the catalogue (and I do lots!) there is always stamps that you miss, but this is a stamp set a customer bought and after that it just kept popping out at me from the catalogue.  What a great girlie set for wedding/engagement congratulations, friendship or birthdays.  It is a small set of 3 stamps so a great little purchase without too much guilt!  I just love the shoe in the embossed silver as I have done for these two cards.

The colour for the card is  Rose Red which has moved from the Subtles collection and is now in the Regals, I am so glad this colour did not retire as I do like it a lot.  The background is the Ex Libris background stamp, it provides an instant card front design in just one inking and stamping, such a time-saver!  The butterfly is so delicate too in this set and with the sentiment it is a really lovely set to have in your collection.

I have dressed the shoe with a little Boho Blossom and a Vintage Button with some pearls and sparkles.  The large pearls we now have are perfect for the centre of the Boho Blossom small flower and they also fit perfectly in the centre of the larger vintage button (not used here).

After my Rose Red card, I thought I would use a different colour scheme for another card.  This time I have used Daffodil Delight.  The image is still embossed silver here, but I have made little daisy flowers with the smallest Boho Blossom flower and just a standard hole punch for the centre.  The 'Happy Birthday' for this one is from the Create a cupcake stamp set.  This one was a postal friendly card so I used a rolled ribbon instead of a tied bow and secured the ends inside the middle loop with a brad.

I used some vellum cardstock overlay on the card which was embossed with the Polka Dot emboss folder.  Just a little warning if you do this, you might want to be a bit careful with your glue as I found after when mine was a little visible on the top edge.  You could create a little decorative strip to cover it here.

Look at these new colours on the last card I have made, these are the new In Colours 2013-2015 again.  This is also the Mosaic Madness stamp set and co-ordinating punch from the new catalogue.  I have added some embossed pieces too and layered it over a background made up of white punched pieces.  The 'Happy Birthday' you will recognise is again from the Create a cupcake set.  I am loving the Strawberry Slush colour.

I even added a little extra saying inside the card from the same stamp set.
